Computer Labs
Access to technology is crucial for all students across the world. A barrier for many students, is that they can not afford a laptop or computer classes. All Computer classes through BFC are free.
New Hope School Computer Lab
Our first computer lab was something that Chhunly and Michele discussed. New Hope School had an old dilapidated kitchen that they thought had potential to be a computer lab. Before they put out the ask, Chhunly got a call from a friend. "Hey, I have a pastor friend who has someone at their church looking for a good project to fund. Do you have one?" Praise God!
Computer Lab for High School Students
It is almost impossible to keep up with school work and be competitive with their peers without computer skills. Many of our high school students have not had the opportunity before to interact with a laptop. During Covid many of them tried to do what they could on their phones. Many of their phones did not have the capabilities that they needed to keep up in school.
Last year, we received another donation of laptops and finances to build a computer lab.
Currently, all of our high school sponsored students receive computer classes and we extended these classes to other high school students. As a result, many of them are also starting to attend church and high school fellowship.
Support Technology
We have hundreds of students and many families telling our Khmer Team, "Please can you build a computer lab here?" or "Please can my child have computer class too?" We would love to expand our current computer labs and add another computer lab. As you can imagine the cost of wiring and electricity every month and to keep our computer labs running is expensive in Cambodia.
