BFC HIGH SCHOOL & DORMITORY

In the beginning of 2021, we set the “impossible” goal for our first year of finding sponsors for 20 high school students. Many high school students have had to drop out of school because they are not able to pass the yearly exam due to not having the supplementary classes that cover the material.

In 2021, BFC also decided to start a high school student sponsorship program.  BFC started with seven high school student girls.

In 2022, we celebrated five students starting college and added an additional fifteen high school students.

In 2023, BFC began renting a house that would serve as a dormitory for our high school students.

2024, There are 15 students attending college, and 30 high school students because of high school student sponsorship.

Many girls are pulled out of school by their families to get married for the dowry or to work in Thailand and risk human trafficking.

Often, families living in extreme poverty need their children to work in the fields or go to Thailand to help support their families financially. There is a high risk for the Khmer people working in Thailand without legal documents. They risk human trafficking and being accused by their Thai company owner.

A safe space to live

High school students live too far away from the high school and can not afford a bike or motorcycle to get to school. They come from families living in extreme poverty. When we first started high school student sponsorship, we could only afford a small place. When it rained, the dirt floor would flood and students would have to move all of their belongings to safety.

HOw god is working

Last year, we found a building that is fully enclosed and has a kitchen and separate living spaces for the boys and girls. There is also a meeting space that serves as a computer lab, fellowship space, and study room.
